1. DWR (Durable Water-Repellent Spray) - Designed to make surface water bead off the jacket, this spray is a crucial part of the garment's breathability. There are several DWRs available and their effective durability is reflected in their price. Because Level Six gear is made for paddling, their DWR is the toughest available.
2. Face Fabric - 194g/m2 100% nylon. Nice and soft to the hand without sacrificing strength.
3. eXhaust Membrane - This layer provides the systems waterproofness and breathability. The eXhaust membrane is an ultra-thin layer with micro pores small enough to prevent water from penetrating but large enough to allow body vapor (sweat) to escape. Sandwiched between the protective layers of the outer face fabric and the tricot mesh, this system is breathable and durable enough for the punishing demands of paddling. Water Specifications: -20,000 mm water resistance (water column test) Breathability Specifications -8,000g/m2/24hrs breathability (JIS L 1099 A1+B1 tests)
4. Membrane Protection - A polyester tricot lining is laminated to the underside of the waterproof breathable eXhaust membrane. This synthetic mesh protects the eXhaust membrane from abrasion and wear and tear with other clothing layers.

Pro Tips:

Day-To-Day Use:

  • Remove jewelry before you put on or take off the suit
  • Wearing layers and socks inside your suit/pants will help keep everything clean inside
  • Be sure to protect the waterproof socks by wearing closed shoes/socks
  • If the suit is used in seawater, rinse with fresh water after each use
  • Fully dry the garment inside out after each use
  • Store out of direct sunlight in dry, cool conditions
  • Hang or loosely roll items
  • Avoid humidity
  • Never bend or crimp dry zippers

Cleaning:

  • Clean out obstructions from the zipper teeth. Never force zippers to close as they can be damaged if closed over debris
  • Use Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant to extend the use and life
  • Do not use liquid laundry detergent or harsh chemicals when washing
  • Use Revivex Pro Cleaner designed for cleaning technical outerwear
  • Hand washing and rinsing is recommended
  • Air dry. Do not put the suit in a dryer

Gasket Care:

  • New gaskets take some time to form to your body. Speed up the process by placing an slightly larger object in the gasket and let sit overnight
  • Keep your gaskets lubricated with 303 Protectant to improve flexibility and comfort
  • Do not use chemicals such as insect repellent or sunscreen around the latex. These products are known to cause significant damage to the latex
  • Even with the best of care, the latex will break down over time. We offer gasket replacement kits when the time comes

    Great Suit

I love this suit, I've spent about 20 days in it so far. I use it for Swift Water Rescue and it has been better than a suit I've used previously. It was a bit stiff for the first few days but I haven't noticed it since. It is pretty durable when scraping across rocks and other debris in the river. I thought I would hate the rear entry but I now prefer it over a front entry suit. I'm 5'10" and 170lbs and a medium suit fits great on me. I'd highly recommend this suit.

    Buy a Kokatet

I bought this new and have used it around 15 times so far this season. While the outside sure is rugged. The inside is not. The grey liner inside my suit started to come off and fall apart within the first two trips down the river. When contacting level six customer support they told me this only happens with years of use and to put a patch on the inside of the suit where it had come off before it wears through the outside. I thought perhaps it was just do to the suits zipper pocket and the zipper possibly causing extra friction. However after more trips it appears I would have to just begin patching all over the inside of this suit. If you are serious about paddling and staying dry buy anything else. This suit has always leaked a bit for me a bit, but was tolerable as I am an active and playful paddler.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the Emperor dry suit waterproof?

Yes, the Emperor uses waterproof and breathable 3-layer eXhaust 3.0 nylon fabric with Cordura reinforcement panels in the knees, elbows, and seat panel. Latex gaskets seal out water at the neck and wrists, while integrated eXhaust socks keep your feet dry and comfortable.

Will the Emperor dry suit keep me warm?

The Emperor dry suit is not insulated. Dry suits play their part in keeping you warm by keeping you dry. You wear layering underneath, such as a union suit or dry suit liner to regulate your body warmth. This gives you the versatility to adjust your layers to match the weather conditions.

What kind of entry zipper does the Emperor dry suit have?

The Emperor uses a rear entry zipper. Rear entry dry suits are usually easier for getting your head through the gasket, although they can be trickier to zip/unzip by yourself. Rear zippers also minimize bunching under your PFD, increasing mobility when paddling.

Why are the gaskets on my Emperor dry suit so tight?

Latex gaskets are designed to fit very snugly against your skin to prevent water from entering the suit. They will stretch and form to your body with use. You can speed up the process by gently stretching the gasket over an item slightly larger than your neck or wrists for 12-24 hours. Also, keep your gaskets lubricated with 303 Protectant to improve flexibility and comfort, and extend the life of your gaskets.

How do I care for my Emperor dry suit?

Rinse after each use. To clean, we recommend Gear Aid Revivex Pro Cleaner or other detergents meant for technical outwear. Avoid liquid laundry detergent or harsh chemicals. Hand washing and rinsing is recommended. Air dry. Do not put it in a dryer. You will also want to keep your gaskets lubricated; we recommend 303 Protectant. Zippers can be maintained with Gear Aid Zipper Cleaner and Lubricant.
